Vines in autumn

The winemaking philosophy is the same in the vineyard and in the cellar – to produce the most natural possible wine. Concretely, this entails:
What about the juice? 90% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon from vines 30-70 years old
Valmengaux – Organic wine: beautiful deep, brilliant crimson colour, an expressive aromatic nose of red and black fruit, as well as a beautiful long aftertaste
Available vintages: 2015, 2016 in 75 cl and 150 cl bottles
Valmengaux – En Jarre – Organic wine: aged in earthenware jars that enhance aromas. The fruity flavours are enhanced and more complex
Available vintage: 2018 (from April 2020), in 75 cl bottles (2015 and 2016 sold-out)

« A Bordeaux wine aged in amphora, this is pretty uncommon ! This one successfully passes the exam. It offers a deep hue, a pure and juicy nose of blackcurrant and ripe strawberry. The palate is supple, fruity and very drinkable. Tanins are perfectly integrated and we can feel a friendly energy in this wine. Accepted in the big league, with honors! »

For your holidays with your family or your friends (sleep 8 people – 4 rooms),we welcome you at Domaine de Valmengaux in our cottage.
It is a charming old stone house, typical of the area, 140sqm on 2 levels: open kitchen on a living room with a large fireplace (and TV with Netflix and DVD player), 1 bedroom (queen bed) and bathroom and toilets on the ground floor; 3 bedrooms (2 single beds each, that can be turned into a queen bed), 1 shower room, 1 toilet upstairs. All living rooms overlook the garden and its swimming pool.

The house has undergone renovations in recent years (windows, kitchen, painting). The quality bedding is also brand new and eco-friendly. Furniture blends antique and contemporary furniture, creating a harmonious and warm style. And let’s not forget the hundreds of books at your disposal to make your stay even more enjoyable.
It is an old house. Its charm (old terracotta tommettes and large fireplace open on the ground floor, parquet upstairs) compensates for its small flaws (narrow and steep staircase to access the floor).
Finally, the cottage is built right up against the winery and has a separate entrance and parking lot (2-3 cars).
In Verac, you will stand in the heart of the vineyards of the right bank. But you’ll also be just over an hour from the beaches of the Arcachon Basin (Cap Ferret), the Medocain coastline (Lacanau, Soulac) and Royan.
All year round, there is no shortage of attractions: Blaye citadel and scenic road above the Gironde estuary, day-trip in the Médoc via the Blaye ferry-boat, Bordeaux (historic pedestrian centre, La Cité du Vin…) is a 30 minutes drive, Saint-Emilion 20 minutes and visits to Bergerac, Duras will make your day…
In summer, you can attend various music and art festivals around. And don’t miss the mascaret: a few times a year, dozen of surfers surf this unique wave upstream the Dordogne river.
